Countryside to Town 2005

Brocklesby Hound Puppies a Huge Hit with Brigg Shoppers

On Saturday a small group of Brocklesby Hunt supporters manned a Countryside to Town stand in Brigg in the Bandstand in the centre of the marketplace. Two puppies from the Kennels attended, behaved immaculately and were the stars of the show. From the outset, bringing them from a nearby Car Park, they were much admired. Many children came to meet the pupipes, and take home a balloon. There was huge amount of support for what we were doing. Countless shoppers of all ages took time to admire the pups, talk to us and take away the literature. Many remarked on how nice it was to see us naturally integrated as part of the rural community on Farmers' Market Day, and many stallholders came to express their support. Most visitors had a very laid back, 'live and let live' attitude.

We did not have a single adverse remark from anyone.

Time and again two comments emerged - and frequently from teenagers, 'I have never had anything to do with it, but banning it doesn't seem to make sense.' The other remark from right across the board was that people are sick of embracing other cultures, only to have their own denied them. As our literature says 'Fight Prejudice. Fight the Ban!'
