For the second time since
the Hunting Act came into force a great crowd of supporters and
followers gathered for the Opening Meet of the East Kent Foxhounds.
Some seventy on horseback and three times as many on foot demonstrated
that the ban had certainly not succeeded in breaking their spirit.
Nonetheless the Hunting Act affected the day as sport was provided by a
fox-scented rag dragged behind a quad bike and the fox that got up to
see what was going on, ran to covert without being hunted by hounds.
Two television crews were present and the East Kent featured in the evening broadcast.
Riders of all ages and from every walk of life made the most of a day of trail hunting that ended shortly before 4pm.
There can be no doubt in anyone's mind that the East Kent not only
intends to be back for many years to come but that they have every
expectation that it will not be too long before they will be legally
hunting Charlie Fox once again.
