The Puppy Show
2004
Brilliant sunshine and
welcome wind made for the perfect afternoon high above the Elham
Valley. The pristine condition of kennels and the pack belied the
fact that our huntsman is working single-handed much of the time and
stood testament to the efforts of those who rallied round to lend a
hand -well done and thank you to each and every one but most
especially the huntsman. Our new whipper-in and his family were
amongst those who pulled out the stops. Thanks are also due to the
gallant providers of the most splendid tea. We are involved in
hunting for the 21st century and our critics claim that we belong in
the past but if this is a guarantee that we can taste scones 'like
mother used to make' then it's a damn fine thing!
Hounds were beautifully turned out and expertly shown in front of an appreciative crowd made up of members, subscribers, landowners and guests. The re-appearance of some Welsh blood led tothe scurrilous reference to 'do you mean the lurcher' but was warmly appreciated by everyone else.
The East Kent are grateful to Graeme Worsley, Esq. M.F.H. from the Old Surrey, Burstow and West Kent and Tony Percy Esq., Ex-huntsman to the East Sussex and Romney Marsh, for attending to judge.
Thanks are also extended to that noble group - the Puppy Walkers.
