23.10.04 - Petworth

Weather best described as "Bracing" - at least there was no snow, which was a blessing. Some wonderful views of foxes and hounds hunted well, their music enhanced by the very, very damp conditions. An incident involving one Mr JF of Surrey could have come straight out of Jorrocks: after breaking a stirrup leather after half an hour, he returned to his box to change not the leather but the whole horse... (what he planned to do when the second one got dirty is anyone's guess)
