The Holcombe Harriers

The Old Norris has been collecting hunt memorabilia for some years and, from time to time, assembles items of interest into a hunt related site.

The Holcombe Harriers is one of the oldest packs in the country. The pack has been kennelled at Holcombe for at least 200 years. They wear the Scarlet Livery of the King by grant of James I. They have their own coat of arms which was granted in 1985 and bears the motto "Hunting and Conservation". The pack is thought to have originated from the blue-mottled Chien de Gascogne, an ancient French strain. Despite strenuous efforts to maintain the line, the deprecations of wartime necessitated the introduction of Harrier Stud Book blood.

The pack is recognised by both the Masters of Harriers and Masters of Foxhounds Associations.
